Information We Collect
Photos
- Selfie Images: You take daily selfies using the app's camera feature
- Storage: All photos are stored locally on your device only
- Processing: Photos are temporarily sent to our AI service for health analysis, then immediately discarded from our servers
- We do not store your photos on any external servers or cloud storage
Health Data (Apple HealthKit)
- Data Types: With your permission, we access sleep data, heart rate, and activity data from Apple Health
- Purpose: This data enhances the personalization of your wellness insights
- Storage: Health data is never uploaded to external servers
- Processing: All health data processing occurs locally on your device
- HealthKit Compliance: We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or share it with third parties
Usage Data
- Crash Reports: Anonymous crash data may be collected via Sentry to improve app stability
- No Personal Data: Crash reports do not contain photos, health data, or personal identifiers
How We Use Your Information
- AI Health Analysis: Your selfie is sent to Google's Gemini AI to generate wellness insights. The image is processed in real-time and is not stored.
- Personalized Insights: Health data from Apple Health is used locally to provide context-aware recommendations.
- App Improvement: Anonymous crash data helps us fix bugs and improve performance.
Data Storage and Security
Local-First Architecture

- Delete All Data: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
Opt-Out Options
- Health data access is optional; the app functions without it
- Push notifications are optional
- Crash reporting helps improve the app but can be limited by disabling analytics in iOS Settings
Children's Privacy
Selfwise is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.
Data Retention
- Photos: Stored until you delete them or uninstall the app
- Health Data: Never stored; only accessed in real-time when needed
- Preferences: Stored until you uninstall the app
- Crash Reports: Retained by Sentry for 90 days
International Users
Our servers are located in the European Union (Frankfurt). By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your selfie images to our servers for AI processing.
